NRDA Scientific Sampling Protocols and Sites

Marine scientists on the OSATF are coordinating with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's CAMA (Coastal and Aquatic Managed Areas) program, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to conduct pre-spill assessments and where necessary post-spill assessments along the Gulf coast using NOAA's Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA) protocols. Using these protocols ensures that data collection is conducted in a systematic way that will allow valid comparisons across systems. Data collection includes water quality and sediment, as well as habitat and ecological community profiles.
